I was out shopping today and saw what may be an ok deal. For $134 I can get a Blaupunkt BPV-650 CD head unit and a set of Blaupunkt PCxt652 Speakers I was planning on putting a new head in the wifes Jeep Grand Cheerokee but the price seems a little cheap but I'm not looking for high end stuff just a decent cd player and tuner. I was also looking through the garage and found a few of my old amps and was wondering if they are worth using in my car they are 1) Rockford Fosgate Punch 60iX 2) Rockford Fosgate Power 100 HD 3) Alpine V-12 MRV-F352. I plan on building a system out of these for my 350ed rx-7 but I have no idea what they should power or if I should just use them as paperweights. I hope sombody can help me I know very little about car audio. Keith

im a car audio nut my self, ive always steered away from blaupunkt, i just never liked the way they sounded myself. I stick to Kenwood, Alpine, or Eclipse decks. The first two can be come by pretty reasonalbly priced but the last one is a pricey brand.
as for the amps tell me what they r rated at i.e. 100x4, 30x2, 400x5. Ill try and help you out as much as i can.

the Alpine is rated at 50Wx4@4Ohms + 150Wx1@4 Ohms at 14.4v. 60Wx4@2Ohms + 150Wx1@4Ohms at 14.4v. or 120Wx2@4Ohms + 150Wx1@4 Ohms. The Punch 60ix is rated mono@ 4Ohms 260W, per channel @2Ohms 130W and Per channel@4Ohms 80W. I got this info from their web site last night but have no idea what it all means. Keith

Blau is a good reliable unit, but the sound quality is lacking.... They will take alot of abuse, and the newer models look pretty cool too.

Maybe if enough of us reply, you'll begin to see a helpful trend.
I'm Alpine electronics, JBL lows/highs, and Polk mids.
Weird combo huh?
I've only had Blaupunkt in a few family Mercedes cars. I vote the same as above on sound lacking.
I've enjoyed the few Blaupunkt head units I have used. Like everything else, you need to decide what you want out of the system before you build it - is if for competition, show, decent sound cheap, etc.
Any of those amps should be good enough for anything ecept a subwoofer unless you need it REALLY LOUD :)
I put in a cheap MP3 head unit (JVC) in my Rx-7 and I like it so much that I want one in my daily driver.

I prefer Kenwood and Alpine components. Blaupunkt used to be the shit until they were bought out in the early 90's. If your amps aren't fried they're a decent start.
As a side note, I have heard LS1 powered's stereo and it is a sweet setup, with full range harmonics and clear sound reproduction.

Since this is a good discussion, I've moved a copy of it to the electronics forum as well. Thanks for the input guys. :)
