how does the referals in the profile work? [Archive]

well, when a new user signs up, they have a place to eneter in somebody that referred them to the site... (I think, it's been a while since I looked at it)

Or, if they are browsing the site with a couple extra tags, and they register, it'll link it to the user that refferred them. i.e.

http://www.torquecentral.com/home.php?referrerid=6

If you were a new user, and you followed that link, you'd go to the home page, but the referrerid tag will follow you, and if you registered, it would link the new user as being referred by the existing user who's id is 6.

This is useful if you post links to this site from other places, say sigs on other sites, in an e-mail sig, etc.....

It's a shame that not many people use this feature, cause it's really cool to see the web it can create.... and show you who brought who and so on...
