Need an opinion as to which is the better choice for auto-x?
Stock vs Stock. Which has better support for modifications?
thanks

just from what I have seen, I would think a Miata would be better for Auto-X. They tend to do very well. As for Mods, I'm not real sure which has better aftermarket support, but then with the Miata, there is always Mazdaspeed....
I think they both have pretty good support as for mods

I'd try to find a na miata and just beef up the suspension and maybe bolt ons, put some slicks on it and an hit the pylons

omg 240sx suck at autox... unless you want to drift the course. 240's just understeer everywhere while 'grip' driving.
Miata's are very popular for autoX and I've seen turbo and supercharger kits as well as tons of handling upgrades. I guess the only problem is that there are so many of them at the autox events :) They're an awesome little cars and are perfect for autoX, but perhaps a little underpowered if you want to do track days as well (and you'll need a roll bar or hard-top for most track days, if not all).
A note of warning, if you're going to autox and modify the car you need to pay very close attention to the class specs. Sometimes having a fast car that you want is not always compatible with autox and you could be put into a class where you can't be competitive. It depends on what you want. I AutoX but I don't really care about being competitive, I just go to have fun with my car and meet people.
