View Full Version : 283...
I have a 283 and i was wondering what i could do to build it up later on....it's got powerpak heads, edelbrock rpm intake, 600cfm edelbrock w/el. choke, msd coil and distributor, th350 w/ 4.1 rear end...besides replacing it or stroking/boring it, what would you guys do to pep it up?

build an old school 302.... oh sorry never read the "besides boring/stroking it" i would just stick a decent cam in it some decent flowing heads, headers and thats about it
i'll prolly end up going 302 anyway, just didn't want people to state the obvious..i have looked into heads and cams...just wondering if anyone out there actually had something old school like this and might chime in....maybe with certain combinations they have had or that might work for something to get higher rpms...

lol i watched a stock 283 bury a 8000 rpm tach no problem lol those little suckers can rev thats for sure if you want even more revs just use lightweight parts,as for the 302 thats an engine ive been wanting to build sometime now and base it exactly off the gm 69 dz 302 out of the camaros

the 4.1 gears will do well with the 283's short stroke and high revability. like he said just make sure you have all the equipment for high flow at high rpms rather than high intake charge velocity at low rpms, i.e. very good flowing heads, cam and exhaust.
