I was wondering if we need a limit to the number of pages a thread needs. One in the smackdown forum is getting a little silly. So I though something on 5 or 6 would be long enough for a thread run. What do you guys think??

slp and ls1 have about a 100 posts per thread limits.

iir a rough rule that we should follow,

remeber that mods can split threads if they have spun off into multiple threads

Personally I like leaving it go as long as it's going to go. I don't think we want to be just like every other board and I personally don't like seeing alot of locked threads. I don't know, Matt, Scott & Joel, what do you guys think?

If someone's going to talk...they'll just open up another thread and continue the conversation. It's pointless to try and control that. But, I do hear what you're saying Bud...

From what SLP said is that those 100+ threads starts to cause performance issues.

like I said its a rough rule. If its 100+ free posts lock it down. and start and start a new one. If its a good post keep it going

and rememebr you can rate threads so people will know the important ones

I don't know what software the SLP board uses, but I haven't seen any performance hits on some of our longer threads... The way the database is queried is very slick... The only reason I could see for implementing a rule/limit like this is if it were a severe performance hit.

This is such an under-used feature on this board that I would like to see our members use more often!
